Chelsea's Betrand fumes at Roy Hodgson for not calling him

Thegoalmac can reveal that Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand says he is "very disappointed" to have been overlooked for the England squad after his fine form so far this season.

I have not watched him a lot though this season, but given that his team is doing very well, he may have a case, but so do other players as well, sometimes I do really feel for managers. Continue for what the Chelsea's on loan player to Southampton said.

Bertrand was snubbed by England boss Roy Hodgson for games against Slovenia and Scotland, with Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw and Kieran Gibbs all selected instead.

"It will be quiet here in Southampton these next two weeks," Bertrand told the press. "But it's a chance for those of us who are left out, like me, to work on things and come back flying again.

"I'm very disappointed. I've started very well this season, we're second in the league, so I don't know what the criteria is to get in there at the minute.

"I would love to get another chance but, at the end of the day, it's not down to me. I feel like I should have achieved that already so hopefully it will come."

Bertrand has two England caps, his last coming in a World Cup qualifier against Ukraine in September 2012.
