Thegoalmac can reveal that Italy head coach Antonio Conte has reacted angrily to questions over why Mario Balotelli was sent home from the squad.
The Liverpool striker was allowed to return to England after picking
up a groin injury, with Conte stating on Saturday that it was "useless
to keep him" for the clash against Croatia.
Reports in Italy earlier on Sunday suggested Balotelli had in fact
fallen out with Conte upon his return to the Azzurri set-up after
becoming annoyed at the prospect of starting the match on the bench.
Conte, however, refused to pay any attention to the speculation and
instead vowed to be "more careful" in his squad selection to avoid
injury problems in future.
"I'll keep Balotelli's evaluation to myself. It's the same with Alessio Cerci. Now that's enough," Conte snapped to Rai Sport.
"There are effectively too many injuries. I talked to [team doctor
Enrico] Castellacci and next time we'll be more careful and we won't do
certain things."
Italy have also lost Marco Verratti to injury this week, with Andrea
Pirlo not fit and Leonardo Bonucci banned for Sunday's Euro 2016
qualifier.
Hmmm, I hope its not a fall out with Conte though, because that will definitely mean the end of Super Mario's international career as far as Conte is Italy's coach.
