Thegoalmac can reveal that our very own Victor Moses has withdrawn from the Nigeria squad for the upcoming
African Nations Cup qualifiers against Sudan after suffering a
recurrence of a thigh injury.
Moses, 23, was recalled by the Super
Eagles for the Group A matches in Khartoum, Sudan on Saturday and
Abuja, Nigeria next Wednesday after being dropped following the World
Cup.
However, the winger was injured while playing for Stoke City in the 3-1 defeat
at Sunderland on Saturday, and the Nigerian Football Federation
confirmed on Tuesday that he will miss the back-to-back games against
Sudan as a result.
Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has named Edem Eduok, who plays for Nigerian club Dolphins, as Moses' replacement.
Nigeria,
the African Nations Cup holders, have picked up just one point from
their opening two qualifying matches for the 2015 finals in Morocco,
drawing 0-0 with South Africa after losing 3-2 to Congo DR.
Thegoalmac wishes Mr Victor swift and quick recovery.
