For me i will give the award to a German because of their world cup triumph,Neuer,Lahm,Muller,anyone out of this three deserves the award ahead of anyone,its a world cup year that comes once every four years and is the biggest football tournament,so the best player in a world cup year should always be a world cup winner,this is simply my opinion.
Messi shouldn't have also won the best player at the world cup award as well.Ronaldo flopped in the world cup and doesn't deserve Ballon d'Or,yes he won the Champions league but he already got his reward by winning the best European player award,that should simply be enough.
