Bastia striker Brandao
has been handed a six-month suspension for headbutting Paris
Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta when the two clubs met at the Parc des
Princes last month.
The Brazilian’s action received widespread coverage as it was an
off-field incident that was caught on television cameras, with the
former Marseille and Saint-Etienne forward seen waiting in the tunnel to
strike the Italy international midfielder.

Ligue 1’s Disciplinary Commission heard the case on Thursday evening
in Paris, at which both players and representatives of each club were
present.
“The Commission imposes a six-month suspension on Brandao for his
actions towards Thiago Motta. Brandao will be qualified to play again
from February 22, 2015,” a statement read.
The 34-year-old striker, who had only signed for Claude Makelele’s
side in the summer, is on a one-year deal with the Furiani outfit and
prior to the ruling there was speculation that the Corsican side may
take steps to cut that short if a heavy ban was laid down.
Brandao was placed on a temporary suspension by the league following
the match on August 16, which the French champions went on to win 2-0.
