Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone
has made it clear that he is ready to pay the price for his dismissal
in the second leg of their Supercopa de Espana tie against Real Madrid.Continue...
The Argentine was sent from the dugout just 26 minutes in following
another altercation with officials on the touchline and he has stressed
that he will accept the consequences as he is keen to move on.
"It doesn't do any good to keep talking about the same thing. The people
who make the decisions will have to see what a fair punishment is,"
Simeone told AS.
"When someone makes a mistake it's only right that they pay for it, we are waiting to see what the price is.
"My assistant German Burgos has the ability to stand in and he has my trust; we see football in the same way."
The Atletico coach then went on to discuss the future of Toby
Alderweireld amid ongoing reports that the Belgium international is set
to leave the club.
"He is an Atletico player for now. He has options to leave, but we will count on him as long as he is here.
"We are very grateful for the work he has put in for us and happy with his attitude. He is one of the group."
Alderweireld, 25, joined Atletico from Ajax in the summer of 2013, but
has been unable to secure regular first-team action at the Vicente
Calderon.
