Real Madrid will continue
to buy the best players in the world in order to remain at the pinnacle
of European football, according to director of institutional relations
Emilio Butragueno.Continue...
The Champions League holders brought in Toni
Kroos from Bayern Munich and James Rodriguez from Monaco this summer,
but are expected to lose Angel Di Maria to Manchester United after the
Argentine requested a transfer following the arrival of the
aforementioned duo.
Butragueno is not too concerned about Di
Maria's imminent departure, though, and believes it's only logical
players will leave Madrid as they continue to strengthen their squad.
"Real Madrid always aim to sign the best players in the world," Butragueno was quoted as saying by AS.
"That means some players will come in and others will go. You have to sign the best in order to fight for all titles.
"Di
Maria is a great player. We are waiting for the outcome. If the deal
materialises, it's because all parties involved reached an agreement."
The
26-year-old missed Madrid's 2-0 league win over Cordoba on Monday as he
travelled to Manchester ahead of his proposed move to Louis van Gaal's
side.
