'It's nothing' – Pochettino won't get carried away by table-topping Tottenham

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insists there is still plenty of work to do despite overseeing a 4-0 win against QPR that sent Spurs to the top of the table..Continue to see details...
Nacer Chadli's double, along with goals from Eric Dier and Emmanuel Adebayor, saw the north Londoners claim all three points in comprehensive fashion, with back-to-back wins pushing them to the summit of the Premier League thanks to their superior goal difference over Chelsea and Swansea City.

But Pochettino is refusing to get carried away by his side's flying start to the new campaign and still maintains that cultivating a new style of play is his first priority.

“It's nothing. It's two games,” said the former Southampton boss when asked how it felt to be top of the table. “The most important thing is to try to develop our style and philosophy and today the team showed our basis.

“For me, it's important that the team show that we play like a team, because after we have an unbelievable squad, and after we play like a team and all together, we can achieve something.”

He added: “We need to keep calm, it's only the beginning of the season. Always it is better when you win, for belief in your way and your philosophy and it is a little easier to develop your style.

“But for me, it's nothing. I was very happy after the game but now I am very quiet and calm. We need to work tomorrow, restart the training session and improve, because we need to improve a lot.”

Pochettino also reserved special praise for compatriot Erik Lamela, who struggled for form and fitness last season but has collected four assists in his last two outings, against QPR and AEL Limassol.

“It's true that Lamela can improve a lot, but he's still young. Always when a a young player arrives in a new country, a new culture, it's difficult to adapt. But we all know his skills and we are very pleased for him and the whole squad.”
