Jeremy Mathieu is confident that his performances for Barcelona this season could be the key to earning a recall to the France squad....Do you think this Guy can make Barca Defence stronger?
Continue to see what he said...
The
30-year-old has just two senior caps to his name and was overlooked for
the World Cup by coach Didier Deschamps this summer despite an
impressive campaign with Valencia.
While he admits it will be
difficult to convince Deschamps to give him another chance with les
Bleus, Mathieu is confident he is now at the right club to catch the eye
ahead of Euro 2016 in his homeland.
"I always hope, but it will be difficult to convince the coach," he told Le Figaro. "I had hoped for the World Cup, but it didn't happen.
"The France team is always in the back of my mind. It's up to me to perform well at Barca.
"At the same time, I think Deschamps will probably keep faith with the players he had at the World Cup."
Mathieu,
who joined Barca for €20 million this summer, could make his official
debut in the Blaugrana's opening La Liga clash of the season against
Elche at Camp Nou on Sunday.
