Petrov makes first Aston Villa appearance after four & half years after being diagnosed of leukaemia

Four-and-a-half years after being diagnosed with leukaemia, Stiliyan Petrov returned to the Aston Villa team on Saturday for a pre-season friendly against Austrian side GAK 1902.
In August 2012, five months after his diagnosis, Villa announced Petrov's cancer was in remission but he decided to retire from football at the end of the 2012-13 season.

Now, though, the Bulgarian is attempting a comeback and Villa fans were treated to the heartwarming sight of the 37-year-old coming on as a substitute during the club's tour of Austria.
Petrov is training with his former team on a non-contract basis to build up his fitness, with the only football he has played since recovering from his illness coming with non-league side Wychall Wanderers.
