PSG Sack Coach Laurent Blanc But The Frenchman Is Having The Last Laugh

Coach Laurent Blanc has left ambitious Paris Saint-Germain but will be smiling to the bank with €22 million to go on his way, the French newspaper L'Equipe said Thursday.

Very good bad news I must say.

The departure of Blanc, whose position has looked increasingly tenuous after he failed to guide the French side beyond the Champions League quarter-finals, opens the way for Unai Emery, who has been heavily linked with the post and left Sevilla earlier this month.

Blanc, who signed a two-year contract extension in February, won the domestic treble in each of his last two seasons with PSG.
But it was his failure to make substantial progress in the Champions League that proved his undoing
PSG achieved their second successive domestic treble by winning Ligue 1, the French Cup and the League Cup, but Champions League progress stagnated as they lost in the last eight for the fourth successive season.

Former France defender Blanc, a world champion with Les Bleus in 1998, coached the national team from 2010-12 and took over from Carlo Ancelotti at PSG in 2013.
