Pep Guardiola owes me no apology, insists Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini insists Pep Guardiola has no reason to apologise to him, despite constant speculation linking the current Bayern Munich boss with a move to Manchester City.

Guardiola announced in December that he will leave Bayern at the end of the season - a move criticised by some - and recently confirmed that the Premier League will be his next destination.

The former Barcelona midfielder and coach even said sorry to his colleagues in English football on Monday, but Pellegrini insists he has not been unsettled by the situation.

“No, I’m not worried about that," he said. "I don’t think he has to apologise to me. I have nothing to say about that. It’s the same thing I said three or four weeks ago. I’m not worried about the future.”

Thegoalmac has learned that Guardiola will indeed replace Pellegrini this summer and it is also believed that the experienced Chilean is fully aware of City's plans.

He has spoken at length about his future in recent weeks and has even expressed his hopes that Guardiola will one day manage the club, but his default position has been that he is focusing only on finishing the season as strongly as possible.

“My duty is to make the best work here for Manchester City," he added on Tuesday. "My target is to try to win the Premier League this year, to try to be involved in every competition until the end, and to try to win another competition more.

"If I finish the year with those achievements, I will be very happy. At that moment, I will just start to think about the future.”
