Obafemi Martins Grabs MVP Award In The MLS.

It has been a big month for Obafemi Martins with the Nigerian striker adding another feather to his cap. Obafemi was named the Seattle Sounders’ Team Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year on Friday, becoming the second player in the team’s history alongside Osvaldo Alonso to win the award multiple times.
The Nigerian international won the Sounders’ Team Most Valuable Player award in 2014, breaking a streak of four consecutive MVP honors for Cuban striker Alonso and has now scored 40 goals in 72 appearances since joining the MLS side in 2012.

Martins also grabbed the team’s golden boot after scoring 15 goals this year and according to the team’s website, became the first player in league history to score 15 goals on fewer than 45 shots.
Obagoal was able to lead his team to the playoffs with a 4th placed finish in the Western Conference having a better record than the L.A Galaxy team, but were beaten in the conference semi-finals on a 4-2 aggregate by FC Dallas.

Obafemi Martins would be happy to finish this month on such high after earning his first international caps with the Nigerian national team since 2013 taking his cap tally to 41 for the Super Eagles after featuring in both legs of the World Cup Qualifiers against Swaziland.

With Nigeria advancing to the WCQ group stages, fans of the Super Eagles would be hoping to see the striker transfer his brilliant displays for the Sounders to the national team after such long absence.
