French football federation close Clairefontaine after Paris attacks that killed over 100 people

Simply sad, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims. Football found itself at the centre of tragedy on Friday as over 100 people were killed in a string of attacks in Paris. 
The French Football Federation (FFF) has confirmed they will close Clairefontaine, where the France team are currently based, to the public and press on Saturday following Friday’s attacks in Paris.

France has declared a national state of emergency following attacks across the capital city, which included two explosions outside the Stade de France where France were playing Germany in a friendly.

The FFF have now taken further security steps "due to the dramatic events in the evening of Friday” and have also cancelled Saturday’s planned press conferences.

"The French Football Federation decided to cancel all the appointments of the team of France" read a statement. 

"Accordingly, the meeting with supporters (14:00), press conference (16.00) and public access to the drive (17.30) are cancelled. The CNF Clairefontaine will be closed this Saturday."

France are scheduled to play England at Wembley in an international friendly on Tuesday although the English Football Association have confirmed they will liaise with the FFF over whether the game will still go ahead

"The FA sends its deep condolences to the victims of the Paris attacks. This is clearly a very serious and tragic matter," said the FA.

"Regarding Tuesday's match with France at Wembley, if there is any update The FA will announce it in due course.

"To say anything further would be inappropriate at this time. We will liaise with the French Federation in due course and update accordingly."
