Boateng: I still feel uneasy about Paris attacks

Jerome Boateng says being in the Stade de France in Paris while terrorists wreaked havoc across the city was "the worst horrible experience" of his career.

The stadium was one of several targets in the French capital of attacks which saw more than 130 people killed and many more injured, with explosions taking place just outside the venue as Germany took on Les Bleus on Friday.

The game was completed before fans were told to remain inside the stadium for hours after the final whistle, with both teams spending the night there for safety reasons.

"It was the most horrible experience of my career, because we were so close," Boateng told SportBild. "That queasy feeling remains.

"The first time I looked into the crowd I heard the bang, but there was no smoke, nothing.

"I thought it was odd, because we had had a bomb threat at the hotel at noon that day. Then there was the second bang, I wondered what it could be."

The attack is the second to strike Paris this year following the shootings at the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine, prompting some to question if France should be allowed to host Euro 2016.

Boateng, though, does not share those concerns.
