Bayern Thiago ruled out for 'just a few weeks'

Thiago Alcantara has revealed he will be out for just "a few weeks" after suffering a knee injury while on international duty.

The Bayern Munich midfielder limped off in first half of Spain's friendly clash with England and was replaced by Arsenal's Santi Cazorla.

There were fears that Thiago could be sidelined for a long period as the 24-year-old has a history of suffering major injuries since joining the Bundesliga club when Pep Guardiola took over in 2013.

But the former Barcelona man has allayed fears he will be out for an extended period by taking to Twitter to explain his injury.

"Fortunately I will be out just for a few weeks. Thanks for your support messages," he wrote.

Despite avoiding a serious problem, Thiago could still miss Bundesliga clashes against Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach as well as their Champions League meeting with Olympiacos.
