Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has described Arda Turan as "a great player" but admitted that he does not yet know if would veto the attacker's arrival at Camp Nou should he triumph in this month's elections.
The Blaugrana announced on Monday that they had agreed a €41 million transfer fee with Atletico Madrid for the Turkey international - but stipulated that the 28-year-old could be returned to the Vicente Calderon at a loss of €4.1m should the new president decide he does not want the versatile winger.
Laporta is an admirer of Arda but revealed that Eric Abidal, whom he intends to appoint as his technical secretary, and coach Luis Enrique would ultimately decide whether the former Galatasaray man completes his move to Catalunya.
"I've spoken with Abidal and, if we win, Eric will talk with coach Luis Enrique and then decide whether or not to ratify the operation once we have studied the contract and all its terms," he is quoted as saying by AS.
"As a fan, of course I like him. He is a great player, no doubt about that, and he is not inconsistent with the other ideas we have in mind."
Laporta has spoken openly about his desire to bring Juventus ace Paul Pogba to Barca and he remains confident that he could thrash out a deal with the France international's agent, Mino Raiola.
"We have a very good relationship with his representative," he added. "And the agent will be key to any deal.
"If we agree terms [with Raiola], Pogba could come, but we must also speak with Juventus."
Barca are currently serving a transfer ban related to the movement of under-age players but while they cannot register any players until 2016, they can sign players this summer.
Indeed, the Blaugrana have already acquired Aleix Vidal from Sevilla, though the versatile winger will not be eligible to play until January.
