Hmmm, so surprising though. Cristiano Ronaldo did not register a single shot on target in Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat at Athletic Club on Saturday.
Opta
stats show the Portuguese has now failed to register an attempt on
target in four of his last eight Liga fixtures, having previously
managed at least one between the posts in every previous Primera
Division appearance this term.
Ronaldo has hit seven goals in 12
games for Madrid in 2015, which is well below his usual goal-a-game
ratio for the Spanish side, while Karim Benzema has five in 14 this year
and Gareth Bale just three goals in as many matches as the trio
struggle to replicate their 2014 form.
In midfield, meanwhile,
Toni Kroos misplaced nine passes against Athletic, more than he has done
in any other match for Real in all competitions since signing from
Bayern Munich in the summer.
And it was another slow start for
Carlo Ancelotti's side, who have gone in ahead at the break in just one
of their last five Liga games - the 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna
at the Bernabeu last month.
Madrid have now lost four of their 14 fixtures in all competitions in 2015 and three out of 11 in La Liga so far this year.
