Ivan Rakitic has dismissed reports that Barcelona coach Luis Enrique holds little power at Camp Nou, insisting that all of the players are fully behind their coach.
It has been claimed that Luis Enrique has lost control of the
Blaugrana dressing room and that Lionel Messi is essentially running the
team in conjunction with a number of other senior members of the
Catalans' squad.
However, Rakitic says that Luis Enrique retains the backing of the
players and that Barca remain 100 per cent united as they bid to
overhaul Real Madrid at the top of the Liga standings.
“[Luis Enrique] is the boss and he knows what is best," the Croatia international told Sportske Novosti. "We all believe in him.
“Our success is in the collective act of all for one and one for all.
“Today, Real are ahead but the road is a long one. We just think about ourselves, as there is no need to think about Real.
"We believe that everything is possible."
Rakitic joined Barca from Sevilla last summer and initially struggled
for consistency, with his form fluctuating during the first half of the
season.
However, the midfielder says that he now feels perfectly at home at
Camp Nou and is hoping that he will enjoy and long and successful stint
in Catalunya.
"I would, God willing, stay at Barcelona for many years,” he added. "It’s easy to get used to life in Barcelona.
"For years, the club has had the same ideas and aims; they do not change. You have to know whether you will fit in or not.
"I decided that I wanted it more than anything and I am convinced I can give even more and play at a higher level."
