Thegoalmac can reveal that Michael Carrick believes Manchester United’s trio of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao will frighten any defence in the Premier League.
I think for now on paper yes, they can destroy any defence England and even in Europe, but the key question is, will they ever live up to that potential? Time will tell. Continue to see what Carrick said and you can tell us if you believe the trio could live up to expectation or not?
"Robin wasn’t low. Not at all," said Carrick.
"Players get
criticised, we all get criticised at certain times and it’s something
you have to deal with. The best way to answer it is the way he did it
against Hull.
"Strikers go through a spell and sometimes they
just want a scrappy goal and are off and running again. But Robin scored
a great goal and hopefully that will be the start of a good run over
the weeks to come.
"When you have got him scoring and Wayne
scoring and Falcao coming off the bench and nearly scoring we’ll be a
threat to anyone. You want those boys when they’re flying and it’s scary
to play against.
"What Robin and Wayne did against Hull, we’ve
seen that happen so often in the past and hopefully we’ll see that in
the coming weeks again.
"When you’ve got those lads scoring
goals and creating chances it gives the whole team huge confidence and
belief that, even if we’re not playing great, we’re always in the game
and that’s the case.”
United face Stoke on Tuesday evening and a
win for Van Gaal’s men would put them a point behind third-placed
Southampton, who travel to Arsenal on Wednesday night.
"We believe we can have a really good season. It’s been a strange start in many ways," said the midfielder.
"Hopefully
we can get the injured lads back fit. When you can bring the likes of
Radamel Falcao and Ander Herrera on in matches like Saturday it does
give you confidence.
"Ander came on very early and did so well.
It’s not easy coming on so early in the first half and he’s not played a
lot of football in recent weeks but he came on and looked terrific.
"That’s the beauty of having this strength. You have players to choose from, despite the injuries.
"Falcao
coming on at the end, he was unlucky not to get his goal at the end but
he’s played for us. Angel Di Maria is world-class and to lose him was a
bit of a blow but when you have got players like that to step in off
the bench it helps a lot."
