Thegoalmac can reveal that Brazilian football great Pele has assured the world he is recovering
well after being transferred to the special care unit at a Sao Paulo
hospital.
The 74-year-old was admitted to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein three days ago with a urinary infection.
A hospital statement on Thursday confirmed Pele had been moved to a
different area of the hospital on Thursday, saying: "To receive the best
care he was transferred in order to be monitored in a special care
unit."
Hours later, Pele calmed any fears that his health is deteriorating
by taking to Twitter to confirm that his movement to a different part of
the medical facility was simply to recover in peace away from the
public eye.
"Hello everyone, I want to take this opportunity to let you know that
I am doing fine," he wrote. "I was not put into intensive care today, I
was simply relocated to a special room within the hospital for privacy
purposes only.
"While I appreciate all the visitors that came to see me, I really
need to continue my treatment and recovery in peace. I am blessed to
receive your love and support, and thank God this is nothing serious.
"I am looking forward to spending the upcoming holidays with my
family, and will start the new year with renewed health, with many
international trips already planned! Thank you!"
Pele underwent surgery to remove kidney stones on November 13.
Widely regarded as one of the finest footballers in the history of
the game, Pele won the World Cup on three occasions between 1958 and
1970 and scored more than 1,000 goals in his professional career. Thegoalmac wishes the legend of the beautiful game quick recovery.
