Thegoalmac understands that Gareth Bale has stressed that Real Madrid cannot afford to get carried away after they extended their winning streak to 15 games by beating Basel 1-0 on Wednesday, equalling a club record of 15 winning streak in the champions league.
"It's a great record to equal and one we're happy to have. I think
we're looking good at the moment. But the most important thing is to not
get carried away, take each game as it comes, and try and perform the
best we can," Bale told reporters.
"The most important thing was the three points. We knew it was a
difficult place to come and win. But we were professional about it and
racked up another win. We want to finish top of everything.
"We came into the game with our usual mentality. We went out to win.
Basel are still battling to qualify, still fighting. You have seen teams
come here and struggle. They made life difficult for us, but thankfully
we got the win."
Bale then went on to praise Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portugal international's 26th goal in 19 appearances.
"It's fantastic to play with him. Now hopefully we can just keep going."
Madrid resume domestic action away against Malaga on Saturday.
