Hmmmm, Thegoalmac can reveal that Santos defender David Braz
has suggested he would be open to accepting a bribe ahead of the final
round of matches in the Brasileiro, claiming they are "part of
football".
This is pure madness from this guy, my question is, why is he going public with it, even if he wants to take bribe? Is it that, he is advertising for people to really approach him for the bribe? Anyways, don't you guys think this his statement is enough to put him into trouble with Fifa? Continue for more details on why he wants bribe.
Palmeiras, Vitoria and Bahia are all battling against
relegation from Brazil's top flight heading into matchday 38, with
Vitoria set to take on Santos - comfortably mid-table - on Sunday.
Talk has surfaced in Brazil this week of potential mala branca
- 'white bag' - incentives which could be offered to players by clubs
fighting for survival or titles in an effort to boost their chances of a
favourable result.
Santos will hand Palmeiras and Bahia an
advantage should they defeat 17th-placed Vitoria on Sunday and Braz,
while denying any such offers have been made to him, admits he would be
willing to listen if they were forthcoming.
"Unfortunately, no, I've never received a bribe. But if it happens, it's part of football," he told a press conference.
"It has to be between us players and cannot go out to the press. If it happens, you [the press] would not know.
"If I came to be a penny better off, it would be cool, I'd be happy. But so far nothing has come of it.
"So far I've not received any calls. They [Palmeiras and Bahia] have until Sunday."
Palmeiras
goalkeeper Fernando Prass was this week cleared of allegations he
accepted such a payment as an incentive, and Braz admits he would rather
avoid similar proceedings.
"I fear it [being punished]. But I
never said I've received anything. He [Prass] said he had," he said. "We
have to be careful with what we say."
