Sagnol apologises for insulting African players

Thegoalmac can reveal that Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol has apologised for any offence caused after he was criticised severely for comments he made about African players.

Personally, i have got absolutely nothing to say to this guy, will forgive him, since he has apologised, simply because of the beautiful spirit of the game. Continue for the crap he was talking about.
The coach was accused of making racist remarks when he said: "The advantage of what I would call the typical African player is that they are cheap... ready to fight.

"But football is not just about that, it is about technique, intelligence, discipline, so you need everything."

However, he has now chosen to expand on his comments, insisting he meant no offence and that his comments were incorrectly interpreted.

"If, because of my lack of clarity, people have been offended, humiliated or hurt, I'm sorry," he said at a press conference. "This interpretation doesn't reflect my thoughts and my humanist beliefs. The debate was only a sports debate.

"When I spoke about cheap Africans ready to fight, I just wanted to talk about the young Africans who arrive in Europe with the will to succeed and often to escape a precarious situation.

"We were talking about football, so of course I was referring to tactical intelligence. The training of young players in Africa, probably out of lack of financial resources or structure, is not always as complete as what's provided in Europe. These young players, even with hard work, often have a lack of training when they arrive on our continent.

"Regarding the accusations of racism, I am 37-years-old, I spent 32 years in football locker rooms and I never had any problems with anyone.

"I regret that these people have not read the whole interview because I also said 'A football team is like life, it's like France, it's a mix', and I am proud to be French."
